Southern Thailand’s SuratThani province in the Gulf of Thailand includes KohPhangan, a verdant jungle island.
KohPhangan’s area of 191 square kilometers makes it Thailand’s fifth largest island. The island’s nearest neighbors are KohSamui which is south of KohPhangan by nearly 20 kilometers, and Koh Tao nearly 65 kilometers to the north.
Now a holiday destination known for luxurious vacation rentals and charming boutiques, the up market real estate developments are expanding. The tropical appeal of the virgin beaches and sunny shores has made KohPhangan a major attraction for the discerning tourist. While some of the nearby islands, such as KohSamui, have become over developed and packed with visitors, on KohPhangan the charm of lazy island days has remained intact even with the influx of visitors.
The same island that offered delights to backpackers decades ago now offers those same visitors a place to bring their families on holiday. The shallow waters along the white sandy beaches that line the west coast of the island are ideal for vacationing families to indulge in.
Accommodations on the island run the spectrum from luxury resorts to cheap bungalows. Recent times have brought an influx of high end resorts along the south coast and Thong Nai Pan’s new five star luxury resorts to KohPangan but cheaper low budget options are still available. There are still beach front bungalows and villas that can be rented for low rates as well as a variety of mid-range resorts and hotels. There are options available for every holiday budget.
The luxury real estate market on the island is booming and with the affordable standard of living on KohPhangan, many visitors chose to stay on the tranquil island permanently. Prices for land are lower than neighboring islands and those looking to buy can choose between plots of untouched land or finished luxury villas.
